POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty position to teach courses with emphasis in Film/Video.

 

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in film, drama/theater arts or mass communication OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in media studies, English or communication OR the equivalent.

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above, must complete the supplemental page of the District application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California Community College credential in appropriate subject

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous college-level teaching experience.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience developing and using effective and innovative teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.

Knowledge of current software and editing techniques used in the industry- Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Premiere, After-Effects, and Final Draft.

Knowledge of the internet and its application, mobile media, social media, and their application for film industry professionals.

 

COMPENSATION
HOURLY RANGE: $44.79 - $72.27 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part time teaching assignment(s). Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
