Sinclair seeks to attract an academically and culturally diverse faculty that carries out the mission of the college with dedication, innovation and a commitment to the success of each student. The Division of Liberal Arts, Communication & Social Sciences invites applications for American Sign Language Adjunct Faculty.

Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for courses at our downtown Dayton campus; Courseview campus in Mason, OH; and Englewood and Huber Heights Learning Centers.

Principal Accountabilities

Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students needs
Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
Maintain accurate records of student progress
Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of student information
Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Interpreter Education or related field is required. Masters degree preferred
Proficiency in ASL is a must. Native or native-like signing skills.
National Interpreting certification (RID/NIC) preferred.
Evidence of successful prior teaching (ASL/Interpreting) experience is preferred
A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction
