Job Description

Academic Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible. Emergency Temporary Appointment.

Minimum Qualification:

1. Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Automotive Technology or professionally related area or a combination of education and professional experience.

2. One year of work experience related to the Automotive Technology area.

3. Automotive Service Excellence professional level certifications.

4. Ability to utilize automotive diagnostic, service, and repair software/technology.

5. Knowledge and ability to use personal computers, applicable software and the Internet.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

2. Experience teaching in a community college setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teach 15 equated load hours/semester (to include material and preparation time); develop and grade exams and projects to evaluate student learning and progress; submission of student grades/progress and attendance roster as required.

2. Courses may be offered day, evening and weekends through a variety of modalities from face-to-face to fully online. This may include delivering courses at rural and high school locations.

3. Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours/week/semester.

4. Attend division meetings, advisory board meetings, and other gatherings supporting faculty/industry collaborations.

5. Support learning through student engagement - Incorporate pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem-based activities.

6. Assist the director where needed with promotion through open houses, school visits, tours, development of promotional material, social media, or other relevant activities.

7. Advocate curricular and programmatic change as prescribed from data-driven and knowledge-based reviews.

8. Build and sustain relationships with current and potential external partners; including industry and K-12 partners.

9. Student-centered approach to education and a commitment to helping grow the Automotive Technology program.

10. Participate in strategic planning, goal setting, course outlines with student learning objectives, course and program assessment.

11. Collaborate with colleagues throughout college and industry partners to deliver curriculum meeting today’s professional standards for the industry.

12. Develop, implement, and evaluate the program of learning designed for student progression through and graduation from the degree program.

13. Serve on college committees as assigned.

14. Perform other duties as assigned to provide a high-quality learning experience for students.

1. Effective communication skills with students, faculty and other community members.

2. Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.

3. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.

4. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

5. Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs.

6. Teaching and facilitation skills.

7. Classroom management skills.

8. Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.

9. Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques.

10. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Required:

  • Participate in program assessment and program review

  • Serve on college and NSHE committees

Minimum Starting Salary Information:

The minimum starting salary is $37,353. The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum based on education and experience. Though the full salary range is $37,353 - $80,310, the placement range for this position is between $37,353 - $70,037.
