The SLCC Personal Trainer is responsible for designing, implementing and
ongoing personal training of recreation clients in accordance to their scope of practice,
SLCC personal training guidelines and recognized national and state accredited
Standard of Care.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
-Trainers will develop, demonstrate and oversee the fitness plans for their clients.
-Keep accurate records of plans, clients and sessions
-Track client’s session amounts
-Trainers are supplied with clients to work with but are expected to manage their own schedule
-Clean and maintain all exercise equipment on a daily basis used by their clients.
-Excellent communication skills, customer service and able to deal with the general public, faculty/staff & students.
-Must have a knowledge of membership sales and retention strategies.
-Attend meetings and trainings to facilitate personal development of skills and address and question/comments/concerns

Preferred Qualifications
-Certification with an accredited CPT certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM etdc
-One to two years fitness or recreation background (preferred).
-CPR and First-Aid Certified (preferred).

Minimum Qualifications
-High School Diploma or GED.
-Certification with an accredited CPT certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-Communication skills (oral and written).
-Customer service oriented.
-Problem solving.
-Must be able to safely spot clients.
-Complete college mandatory staff training.
-Complete first-aid and CPR training.
-Work flexible schedule (early mornings, nights, weekends).
-Report to work on time.
-Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
