Teach lecture course in Animal Nutrition.
General Information
The Department of Animal Science at the University of California, Davis, offers an undergraduate major leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. Nutrition (NUT 115) is a 4.0 unit course and will be taught in-person Winter 2023 and is scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:10-1:00pm.
This is a lecture course with a 3-hour laboratory. There are exams, quizzes, and written and oral laboratory reports. NUT 115 explores the comparative differences among animals in the digestion and metabolism of nutrients. Nutrient composition of feeds/foods and the digestion and metabolism on nutrients are related to difference in digestive anatomy. Livestock and companion animals are compared. Lab exercises involve experiential learning activities where students will analyze feeds/foods for protein, lipid, and fiber composition as well as formulate diets for animals. NUT 115 is a required course for the Animal Science (ANS) major and has a typical enrollment of 100-125 juniors/seniors with 25 students per lab section. NUT 115 is a prerequisite for NUT 141 and NUT 142. NUT 115 is offered Winter and Spring quarters, however this position is only for winter quarter 2023.
A temporary lecturer will be selected to fill specialized positions which require their professional and academic expertise and to fill teaching needs occasioned by sabbatical leaves or leaves of absence of regular faculty as well as teaching needs which simply cannot be met by the current number of regular faculty. In any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary.
