Manager of Disability Services

Full Job Description

Full-time, 12-month contract staff position responsible for ensuring that students with disabilities learn in an accessible, equitable and inclusive environment through the provision of accommodations.

Duties:

This position works with eligible students and the appropriate stakeholders to develop plans of action and/or accommodations with students experiencing barriers by conducting interviews, collaborating with the student, and reviewing medical documentation to develop the plan of equal access. The successful candidate will partner with students, faculty, and staff to create an inclusive campus community that values the talents and abilities of all people.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of experience;
  • knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
  • the ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges for WKCTC students;
  • an understanding of contemporary issues in higher education;
  • experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.);
  • an ability to maintain confidentiality of information;
  • experience working with speacial poplulations with differing needs such as foster care, homelessness, underrepresented males, first generation students, veterans, etc.;
  • an ability to work effectively with ethnic, cultural and socially and economically diverse student populations;
  • an appreciation of shared governance and evidence of strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff and other constituent groups and partners, both within and outside the college;
  • excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • an ability to schedule assessments and coordinate accommodations for registered students;
  • knowledge and understanding of student development theory and programs;
  • knowledge of student due process policies/procedures; and
  • knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in student affairs and student development
