Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties

Job Summary
Coordinates the development, equitable expansion, and administration of a Regional Career Connected Learning (CCL) Program in accordance with college and state grant standards, guidelines and regulations. Designs strategies, approaches, and opportunities to connect students to career experiences to create a culture of Career Connected Learning. Develops relationships with K12 and college faculty and staff, parents, community partners, and business and industry to understand network needs and facilitate engagement in relevant learning experiences that would connect students to future career opportunities. Provides a framework for career development and guidance across the stages of awareness, exploration, preparation, and training for use of regional partners that are both learner-relevant and directly linked to professional and industry-based expectations.

Essential Duties

  1. Coordinates the development and administration of the CCL Program and regional system. Works to understand system resources and needs and connect organizations to support programs which further student success and bridge gaps to career exploration and readiness.
  2. Connects the multiple systems already in place that provide equitable, quality career awareness, exploration, preparation, and training programs for students in K-12 while ensuring internal programs align to the broader workforce development systems in the state and working to guide external programs into alignment.
  3. Creates the framework to ensure equitable, high quality work based learning and CCL opportunities for students regardless of the size or location of their secondary school by supporting overall systems development.
  4. Promotes and elevates the role of postsecondary institutions in training, education, and workforce development through a variety of methods including, but not limited to, presentations, information sessions, community events, and other marketing strategies to connect with stakeholders.
  5. Builds relationships, connections, and partnerships for schools across Oregon with employers, colleges, career technical education (CTE) Regions, local workforce development boards, and STEM Hubs in support of CCL.
  6. Addresses capacity and equity gaps in regional CCL systems. Reviews system data, identifies gaps, and recommends targeted strategies for improvement. Assists stakeholders with implementing recommendations and building nontraditional methods and partnerships that minimize barriers, reach goals, and address resource needs.
  7. Collaborates with both internal and external partners to build and maintain the CCL Resource Hub which includes a framework of strategies and best practices for delivery of CCL.
  8. Provides professional learning and technical assistance to programs to promote best and promising practices that support the CCL domains. Designs and conducts presentations and hosts development meetings with various stakeholders.
  9. Collaborates, develops, implements, and evaluates the functions of the program.
  10. Meets specific and measurable targets set by the programs and /or directors.
  11. Engages a variety of stakeholders to create career related opportunities for students


Additional Duties

  1. Hosts and facilitates collaboration with organizations on career days, job shadows, informational interviews, and internship and apprenticeship opportunities.
  2. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degrees in education, social sciences, business administration, counseling, communications, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in workforce development or career based learning, including experience connecting systems and stakeholders across regions
  • Experience developing flexible and supportive career pathways and expanding equity in access to programs for diverse populations.
  • Understanding of the K12 and community college systems
  • Experience convening groups and facilitating meetings
  • Ability to work flexible schedule on occasion to accommodate business needs and their capacity to host students

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degrees in education, social sciences, business administration, counseling, communications, or related discipline
  • Familiar with MHCC and Greater East County community demographics
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience working in a K12 and/or community college setting
  • Bilingual skills with fluency in English and other language that meets community needs
  • Grant writing and reporting experience

Working Conditions and Important Information

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Visual eye strain and repetitive hand/wrist motion for data entry and keyboarding functions. Work will require regular travel to off-campus locations. As directed to meet workload demands, may work flexible schedule outside of typical schedule including evening/weekend hours.

Salary:
Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
