GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Act as a leader for banquets, events and meetings ensuring excellent service for guests. This position serves as a trainer. Trainers are responsible for supervising the learning experiences of students and employees in all areas of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts and The Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and apply "Serve Alcohol with Care" principles.
  • Assign work schedules, following work requirements, to ensure quality and timely delivery of service.
  • Train workers in proper operational procedures, functions, and explain company policies. This includes how to properly serve food in the banquet setting.
  • Observe and evaluate workers' performance to ensure quality service and compliance with specifications.
  • Meet with managers and other supervisors to stay informed of changes affecting operations.
  • Inform workers about interests and special needs of specific groups.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding worker performance and services rendered in a polite, positive and timely manner. Apply customer/guest feedback to service improvement efforts.
  • Analyze and record personnel and operational data, and write related activity reports which include daily banquet checks, reconciliation reports, requisitioning beverages on ChefTec system and handling cash.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves working in a business event setting. Occasional (10-33%) viewing equipment and other types of materials and other close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) reaching, sitting, pulling, grasping pushing and Lifting Up to 50lbs with out assistance. Constant (67-100%) walking, standing, repetitive motion, talking and listening.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills and knowledge, and good working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Previous bartending and serving experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a post high school degree.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a minimum of two years full-time experience in a related hospitality setting or the equivalent education and related work experience.
