Full Job Description

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for a nine-month full-time tenure track Social Work Instructor in the Education and Behavioral Sciences Division. The instructor will begin in the Spring 2023 semester and teach primarily at BC3 Main Campus. Courses may also be assigned at other locations for day or evening assignments to meet required credit load.


Reporting to the Dean of Education and Behavioral Sciences, the Social Work Instructor is responsible for teaching Social Work, Addiction Recovery, Sociology, and other supporting courses. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: advising and recruiting students; developing and advancing the curriculum through program and course development; participating in Division and College committees; assisting with accreditation activities; promoting student retention; and serving the campus community.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Social Work or related field;
  • Experience teaching in an educational setting;
  • Experience working with individuals in recovery and/or experience providing addiction recovery training;
  • Computer literacy and proficiency; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Doctoral Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution;
  • Community College teaching experience;
  • Experience with distance education course creation and delivery;
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment;
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching; and
  • Participation in higher education activities that demonstrate leadership in the field of Social Work

Salary ($44,000 - $46,000) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. BC3 is nestled in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania and only 45 minutes from the cultural life of Pittsburgh.
