This position is located on the 140-acre, beautifully landscaped, Lakewood main campus, high in the foothills, with views looking along the Front Range to Boulder and beyond. Just minutes from downtown Denver, with dedicated RTD light-rail and bus stops, commuting is quick and easy. At Lakewood, RRCC offers employee access to an on-campus coffee shop and cafeteria, an on-campus childrens center, health clinic, recreational facilities, and a 38,000 square foot recreation center, complete with climbing wall, a large gym with basketball courts, state of the art fitness equipment, and full locker rooms. RRCC also offers tuition assistance for full-time employees and most dependents, for classes within the 13-college, state-wide Colorado Community College System.

The Business Department of Red Rocks Community College is seeking a Non-Profit Pathways Adjunct.  

 

Description of Position

Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends. 
 
The ideal instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program. 
 
This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online courses.  

Primary Duties:  

  • Develop appropriate syllabus and assignments aligned with learning outcomes for the Nonprofit Pathways program
  • Teach classes, as assigned, within the Nonprofit Pathways program
  • Assess student learning

Essential Functions:

  • Classroom Instruction

Required to meet all class periods and start and end classes promptly. Teach assigned curriculum and make use of required texts and materials. Provide students with a complete syllabus before the first day of class that includes information on course description, objectives, assignments, grading policies, and contact information. Provide data on student attendance (no-shows, last day of attendance, etc.), promptly. Use technology to facilitate learning including meeting the required minimum standards for the use of the College learning management system Desire2Learn (D2L).

  • Student Assessment (Grading)

Maintain updated and accurate grading records in D2L and submit all final grades by the due date in the college student information system, Banner. Provide consistent and timely feedback to students regarding progress and grades on assignments.

  • Planning

Prepare for each class meeting and consider learning strategies that address diverse learning styles and a diverse community college student population. Class content and assessment methods should relate to course objectives.

  • Communication

Respond timely to students and RRCC staff every 24-48 hours during the class term and for at least one week after grades are submitted. Attend department staff meetings throughout the semester as scheduled. Provide updates to the department chair.

Ancillary Duties:

Instructors can participate in professional development opportunities provided through the department, the college, or the Colorado Community College System.  


 


**Payment is based on the credit hour/contact hour and class ratio as assigned to you by the department chair. RRCC starts at $952.38/credit hour.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education (please include details of any substitution): Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Licenses and Certifications: None required
  • Experience: At least five years experience working within the nonprofit sector in a leadership and/or role

Preferred:

  • Education (please include details of any substitution): Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Licenses and Certifications: None
  • Experience:  Experience in marketing, fund raising, and/or leadership in a nonprofit organization
  • Additional: Familiarity with the metro-area nonprofit landscape, including funders, programs, resources, and trends

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom


Please note that employment with the Colorado Community College System is limited to in-state residents. Selected candidates will be need to be, or be willing to become, state residents before employment can begin.
