Part time EMT Instructor

Job Description

Emergency Medical Technician Basic or Paramedic Certification from the Texas Department of State  Health Services (depending on classes teaching); Emergency Medical Services Program Instructor Certification preferred or must have certification within 1 year of employment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach assigned classes according to approved course syllabi and minimum competencies. Arrive on time for classes or notify the program director and campus AVP as early as possible of an inability to meet a class.  Certify class rosters and submit grades by the deadlines.  Maintain accurate attendance records for all classes.  Inform the administration regarding all matters affecting the welfare of students, faculty and the institution. Maintain all laboratory equipment and materials.  Attend EMS faculty meetings.  Participate in the implementation and evaluation of the emergency medical services curriculum.  Coordinate clinical experiences.  Maintain public relations with appropriate agencies.  Keep abreast of current trends in emergency medicine through active participation in continuing education/workshops and/or formal education activities.  Paramedic instructors must maintain a current BLS, AHA, ACLS certifications for health care providers.  Participate in the collection of data for learning enhancement Annual Plans (LEAPS) and Administrative Outcomes (ADs).  Maintain required Immunizations as described in Health Science Center Policies.  Maintain confidentiality of information.  Work assigned schedule and comply with timekeeping policy.  Other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisory staff.
