Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit, regionally accredited institution committed to a higher standard of educational excellence focused on academic and professional success. Located on a beautiful 180-acre campus in in Western Pennsylvania, PTC was founded in 1946. PTC awards associate and bachelors degrees and certificates within 10 Schools and 30 Programs. PTC offers a college experience that is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.

Purpose of Job

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, this position works as a part of the HR team to accomplish the facilitation of all functional areas of HR, including benefits, recruiting, employee relations, employee development, and other initiatives.

Education Requirements

Bachelors degree in HR, business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, required.
PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional office experience, or an equivalent combination of professional and educational experience, required
  • Experience working in a fast-paced HR office is strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work effectively with a wide range of professionals
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask several priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work with HR and office software, including Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
  • Individual must be able to work with highly confidential information in a professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with staff and faculty members to answer questions, find solutions to issues that arise, and continually support the community
  • Support the recruitment of a skilled, diverse workforce, including advertising, search committee coordination, interviewing, talent pipeline building, and networking
  • Manage day-to-day benefits administration, including open enrollment management, off-cycle elections, verification of enrollment accuracy, and research of creative benefit options
  • Proactively propose and implement process-improvement projects that improve HR administration and employee experience
  • Aid in HRIS implementation and ongoing management, including streamlining processes such as recruiting, benefits, and performance management
  • Coordinate employee events, such as information sessions, health fairs, and other engagement events
  • Stay up to date on HR laws and regulations to contribute to policy compliance and changes within the department and the broader organization
  • Crosstrain to act as a backup for monthly payroll processing and employee time management
  • Contribute to the overall success of Pittsburgh Technical College by performing additional duties as assigned.
