POSITION SUMMARY:

 

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME. ALL TIMES SHOWN ARE EASTERN TIME.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Student Financial Services and Title IV Compliance, the employee provides assistance to the Director in the administration of a comprehensive program of financial aid to include Federal Pell Grant, Federal College Work Study, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Alabama Student Assistance Program, Student Loan Program, Scholarships, and Veterans Administration (VA) benefits.

Performs responsible administrative and clerical work while processing and administering student financial aid packages.

Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3, Rank I: $47,572-$75,267.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned by the director or his/her supervisor.

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

2. Counsel students in the financial aid application process, answering questions, assisting with completion of applications, and all other financial aid issues.

3. Disseminate financial aid information to students and prospective students.

4. Plan and conduct public financial aid workshops on and off campus.

5. Serve as VA counselor and certifying official, as needed.

6. Assist with electronic processing for the Pell Grant Program, Direct Loan program, alternative student loans, the college work-study program, the federal SEOG program, the Alabama Grant Program, and the VA program.

7. Assist with the application process for funding of financial aid programs.

8. Assist in the preparation of institutional, state, and federal reports pertaining to all financial aid programs.

9. Manage student accounts and computer services to achieve optimal efficiency and accuracy related to the tracking of FFELP and private student loans.

10. Assist in the notification of all recipients of awards including SEOG/ASAP awards, letters, and scholarship contracts.

11. Assist in updating policies and procedures pertinent to all financial aid programs.

12. Resolve issues, problems, and conflicts related to student loans; assist with the student loan program, completing data input and transmissions to CPS/EDE.

13. Master federal regulations and information in other federal publications related to Title IV.

14. Design and implement procedures to ensure full compliance with federal student loan regulations.

15. Assist with the management of all scholarship data for both institutional and outside agencies.

16. Maintain a working relationship with area high schools, meeting with students, parents, and counselors.

17. Compile applicant data consideration by scholarship committee and assist with scholarship processing and administration of program.

18. Update and maintain financial aid information on the College website and financial aid publications.

19. Coordinate the student work study program.

2. Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and of departmental information.

3. Remain current in and enhance professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.

4. Interact with and serve diverse student and employee populations in a courteous and friendly manner.

5. Adhere to College standards of professionalism and confidentiality, including courteous and friendly interaction with other CVCC employees.

6. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies and assigned by supervisor or dean.

7. Recruit potential students, both traditional and nontraditional, to the College.

8. Represent the institution in a positive manner.

9. Participate in advance registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment.

10. Serve on committees as assigned.

11. Assist in the planning of and participate in graduation and other College activities.

12. Participate in the Colleges planning process.

13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Only applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with a major concentration in business, finance, accounting, counseling, social sciences, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in financial aid.
  • Ability to represent the College to external groups.
  • Proficiency in public speaking before small and large groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with persons from diverse backgrounds, proficiency in the English language.
  • Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in business, finance, accounting, counseling, social sciences, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in financial aid in a two-year college setting.
