Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions for the 2018 – 2019 academic year to teach courses with emphasis in Nursing.  

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.

SALARY

The starting salary ranges from $42.66 - $68.83 hourly, depending on education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Nursing; AND Direct patient care experience within the last five (5) years in the nursing area to which he/she is assigned, which can be met by: a) One (1) years continuous full-time or its equivalent providing direct patient care as a Registered Nurse in the designated nursing area; or b) one (1) academic year of Registered Nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency; as set by the California Board of Registered Nursing; AND Valid California Registered Nurse License or eligibility for California Licensure as a registered nurse AND Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Recent community college teaching experience; experience in teaching reading, developmental and transfer level composition; ability to address the needs of student form developmental through transfer levels, especially those who are under prepared; experience developing and using innovative teaching strategies to meet student needs; expertise with current methodology in reading and composition; successful experience with different learning technologies; experience teaching and teaching/learning online; commitment to Basic Skills instruction; effective oral and written communication skills.
