Summary:
The Biology Instructor candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours of college-level lecture and laboratory courses each semester. The applicant will be expected to primarily teach nursing pre-requisite courses, including General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Microbiology, with the potential to develop upper division courses in the instructors specialty. Courses are for both non-majors and majors at the undergraduate level. As part of the standard teaching load, the instructor will be responsible for some of the organization and preparation of their lab courses. 
 
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; while the emphasis of this position will be on in-person classes, it may become necessary that some assigned courses be taught via on-line, hybrid, or distance delivery modalities.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  
• Teach 12 credit hours each semester 
• Utilize D2L for course syllabus and grade book
• Working with other instructors during lab preparation 
• Prepare and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams
• Active participation in department meetings
• Other duties as needed by the department
 
Minimum Qualifications Required: 
• Minimum: Masters Degree in Biology (or related discipline) 
• Experience teaching 100-200 level college courses 
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching
• Effective communication and organizational skills
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
• Experience teaching: General Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Microbiology lectures and laboratories
• Demonstrated experience working with first generation and Pell-eligible students
• Experience working with diverse populations and cultivating an inclusive classroom environment
