Job Description
The Department of Public Safety & Security is committed to providing a safe and secure environment that is inclusive and meets the needs of diverse populations on campus. This aligned position, shared between Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College, exists to manage, plan, implement, monitor security and evaluate the public health/safety programs of the two colleges located on three campuses. Public Health and Safety are cornerstones to our mission framework.
 
The Public Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for health, safety, community health, infectious diseases, pandemic/endemic management & mitigation, and emergency response. This position is expected to assist with Public Safety related projects, activities, and reports to ensure the colleges provide a safe and healthy space for employees, students, and visitors. This position will also assist with coordinating and administering pandemic tests for students/employees, monitors email correspondence, attend training/meetings with Minnesota Dept of Health and Anoka/Isanti County Public Health officials.
 
This position has responsibilities at all 3 campuses and the home campus will be the Rapids campus. This position is primarily located on campus but there is possibility of remote work as determined by business needs.

Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree with one (1) year professional experience in Public Health, Public Safety, or Safety related field
  • Ability to identify public health hazards and to develop corrective safety measures including personal protection equipment, policies and notifications
  • Customer service skills including verbal and written communication skills sufficient to communicate and collaborate effectively with constituents in a diverse community
  • Experience applying principles of modern safety analysis and the devices and procedures which minimize working hazards
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with management, labor, students and college employees
  • Computer skills sufficient to enter and retrieve data, compose and edit a variety of documents, reports, and spreadsheets in order to be compliant on Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding files and health related records

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree with one year professional experience in Public Health, Public Safety, or Safety related field within higher education or government entity/organization
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills sufficient to triage health cases collaboratively and efficiently including coordinating the workflow in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in administering Public Health related tests
  • Collaboration with public safety team responses to campus emergencies and large planned events

Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota States vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
