Welcome to Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC), a University System of Georgia (USG) institution that is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Atlanta Metropolitan State College has a rich history that is tied to the City of Atlanta for which it is appropriately named. The college offers high quality baccalaureate, associate and certificate program that are challenging, comprehensive and very affordable. Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves about 3,000 students and is situated on a beautifully landscaped Southwest Atlanta Campus; which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and fifteen minutes north of Hartsfield -Jackson International Airport.

 

Job Summary

This is a twelve-month exempt position which reports to the Executive Director of Federal TRIO Programs. The director plans, directs and implements activities for the grant; selects and supervises full time staff ; oversees supervision of part-time staff; writes grants for continued funding; manages budget for all project expenditures; serves as liaison to local community, college community, target school community, state and federal government agencies; oversees evaluation of all program activities; provides required reports to funding agency and college; assists with planning and design of curriculum; oversees planning of cultural activities including field trips, workshops, seminars, special events, etc.; coordinates student transportation service for the summer program; coordinates student recruitment and selection; oversees design of all promotional literature for the programs; attends regional and national association conferences to keep abreast of current developments in Trio programs; oversees follow-up of Talent Search graduates; serves as liaison to the Talent Search parent association; completes all other duties necessary to maintain an efficient and compliant program. Some occasional evening and weekend hours maybe required.

 

 

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
A master's degree in counseling, education, social work or related field required; five years of progressive grants administration experience working with federally funded programs which provide service to middle and high school age youth. Trio administrative experience is preferred. Applicant must have demonstrated experience in successful grants management; experience working with low-income first-generation youth as well as students from diverse backgrounds; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience with budgets in excess of $300,000.00; strong computer skills; the ability to establish and maintain excellent -relationships with-students' parents, staff, and all other-constituents. Preference will be given to applicants who have similar backgrounds to the target Talent Search population.

 

Proposed Salary

 

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the budgetary parameters of the college and of the University System of Georgia. The University System offers an excellent benefit package, including annual and sick leave accruals, paid holidays, life and health insurances, and a retirement plan. Employment is contingent upon continuation of grant funds from the U.S. Department of Education.
