Position Description
The Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management invites applications for the position of Department Chair. This position is an eleven (11) month full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications. Potential for appointment with tenure for qualified candidates. The effective start date is July 1, 2023.

The Department Chair serves as the chief administrator of the department and is responsible for the academic, personnel, financial, and administrative needs of the department. The Department Chair is responsible for the general direction and supervision of the department, reporting to, and serving at discretion of the Dean of the School. Responsibilities include: general departmental planning; overseeing student recruitment efforts; recommending the appointment of faculty and staff members; evaluating the performance of departmental faculty and staff annually, and as otherwise directed, and making recommendations with respect to promotions, tenure, and retention; measuring and reporting student learning outcomes to continuously improve the program; planning and recommending departmental programs and curricular changes; recommending departmental class schedules by semester and annually; planning and recommending departmental space needs; overseeing a departmental protocol for advising students; recommending annual budget requests and, after appropriations, supervising expenditures; serving as custodian of all instructional property assigned to the department; promoting/advancing scholarship and research productivity of faculty; promoting excellence in teaching and learning; directing departmental fundraising efforts; maintaining and growing the departments Strategic Industry Partners Board; liaising with industry with upper college administration; and performing other duties as assigned by the School of Business Dean, including special projects. Responsibilities as a member of the faculty include teaching undergraduate and possibly graduate courses on campus and/or online; advising students; serving on School and College committees; conducting, publishing, and presenting research; and collaborating with educational partners on and off campus.
