This position will work a mix of remote and onsite workdays. The schedule will be determined at time of hire.

Job Description
The Dean of Liberal & Fine Arts programs provides executive leadership and educational management of the academic and career areas in liberal and fine arts. The Dean provides leadership and direction in the development of programs; establishment of transfer agreements, development of articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities; collaborations with secondary education partners, business. and industry; maintenance of accreditation standards in the programs. The Dean also promotes a positive environment for teaching and learning and advocates for the College and for students, staff and the various departments. The academic dean will collaboratively work with the VP of Academic and Student Affairs and the Director of Resource Development to secure local, state, and national grants that promote the mission and strategic planning of the College. This person will also actively engage in outreach activities that promote college programs, fund raising, and philanthropy. Four department chairs and an Administrative Assistant report to this academic dean in addition to the full-time faculty and part-time faculty members teaching within the liberal and fine arts disciplines.

Required Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position.   • Masters degree in a related field from an accredited institution;
  • Three (3) years of related experience in higher education;
  • A successful record of maintaining and sustaining a cohesive relationship with faculty and staff and building a cohesive and diverse team;
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and maintaining partnerships with K12 and other external organizations;
  • Demonstrated effort to improve cultural competence and foster equity and inclusion;
  • Demonstrates understanding of student success strategies at community and technical colleges, particularly for BIPOC, Pell eligible, and other underrepresented learners.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate from an accredited institution;
  • Knowledge of technical and community college organization, curriculum, goals, vision, fiscal regulations and procedures;
  • Knowledge of pedagogy designed to serve diverse and non-traditional and adult students;
  • Teaching or training experience;
  • Demonstrated experience leading transformational and/or strategic change initiatives through effective collaboration;
  • Knowledge of postsecondary accreditation standards and their implementation (e.g., the Higher Learning Commission).

Benefits Info
The hiring range for this position is $85,000 – $119,000 with excellent benefits. The full salary range is $136,000. Placement within the salary range for this position is determined on the basis of relevant experience and education and in accordance with the current Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Personnel Plan for Administrators.
