Job Description
We are a proud equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, and we seek applicants with deep connections to the cultural communities to which our students belong. We actively seek and encourage applications from women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and individuals with protected veteran status.

THE POSITION
Normandale Community College is a purposeful organization and seeks an inspiring, forward-thinking, and transformative leader committed to the principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging to serve as its next Vice President of Advancement (VPA) and advance the colleges Marketing, Digital Media, Public Relations, Grants and Sponsored Projects in alignment with its mission, vision, and strategic goals.

This is a unique opportunity to elevate the role and status of Normandale both within the state and nationally. The Advancement division is the curator of the colleges story to both our internal and external audiences. We inspire people to become students, support students to become graduates, and work to create meaningful lifelong relationships between graduates and Normandale. We build relationships between the community, corporations, individuals, local government, funders and other institutions of higher education. We lift up faculty and staff as they create this dynamic learning environment.

The VPA is our #1 champion and cheerleader, the most prominent brand ambassador to all of our constituencies. The VPA confidently leads a team that is strategic, analytical and genuinely committed to excellence. We are passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and strive to make that transparent in all of our work. We seek a leader who is passionate about creating access for everyone who wants an education, building effective partnerships, and is an expert collaborator and compelling communicator. Your positive energy and dedication to civic involvement will inspire us.

This is a senior leadership, cabinet-level position that reports directly to the President and is an opportunity for an experienced executive with a proven track record of creative problem-solving, expertise in equity and inclusion, as well as change management to join our mission-driven (student success and equity) organization with a highly collaborative leadership team.

The successful candidate will:
  • Support and contribute meaningfully to furtherance of the colleges Strategic Framework, advancing racial equity in student outcomes and the campus climate, and modeling practices that promote equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Serve as an active member of the Presidents Cabinet in the leadership of the college, advising on media, community, and government relations; communications, including college website and social media; marketing and brand strategy; grants and other sponsored projects; campaigns, and initiatives designed to build the colleges reputation and visibility; and policy matters.
  • Articulate and advance the colleges brand for internal and external collaborators, serving as primary brand steward and champion.
  • In collaboration with the Normandale Foundation, develop fundraising objectives and maintain relationships with current and prospective public funders, civic and elected leaders, and media to maintain a positive climate for college support and ensure visibility of key college initiatives.
  • Monitor public policy discussions and decisions, and advise the President about challenges and opportunities at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Develop and continuously evaluate divisional structure and needs to sustain a comprehensive advancement function, supporting team development and creating a road map for success.
