Instructor- Information Technology
Location Washington, NC Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Type of Position Faculty Minimum Qualifications
Required: Master’s degree in Information Technology,Information Systems or closely related discipline with 18 graduate hours in Information Systems, Computer Science or an Information Technology related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Knowledge of educational technology and applications in instructional delivery.
- Experience in networking.
- Excellent computer skills, including programming, database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Commitment to successful student learning outcomes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively in a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Internet and network protocols, including related use of tools and client/server applications preferred.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience teaching online classes.
- Experience teaching networking courses.
1. Exhibit an understanding and acceptance of the “open door” philosophy of Beaufort County Community College.
2. Instruct all programs or courses assigned according to published curriculum course outlines.
3. Incorporate innovative and creative teaching techniques where desirable.
4. Develop competency-based course outlines, behavioral objectives, and learning cycles for courses taught, and reviewing as scheduled.
5. Develop and distribute syllabi to students for all courses taught.
6. Be responsible for administrative aspects relating to FTE reports, end-of -semester reports, posting grades, and submitting book orders to Lead Instructor.
7. Present any problems, suggestions, and recommendations for improving instructional services to the Lead Instructor or Dean.
8. Maintain availability of a minimum of thirty hours per week, including teaching, committees, and office hours and posting this availability.
9. Advise students in college transfer programs, assist students with registration as appropriate, and monitors the advisee’s academic progress (courses for graduation, courses taken in sequence, etc.)
10. Refer students to the appropriate campus resources to address academic needs, counseling, student supports, or financial concerns.
11. Maintain a high, current level of subject matter expertise by actively participating in professional organizations and attending professional meetings.
12. Assist in the selection of learning resources in appropriate subject area(s) and encourage students to use these materials.
13. Serve as a faculty advisor-sponsor to student activities or requesting organizations.
14. Attend commencement exercises.
15. Serve on committees and fulfill assignments.
16. Attend all faculty meetings as scheduled.
17. Maintain regular and consistent on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations in fulfillment of duties.
18. Maintain stationary position, sitting or standing, for extended periods of time.
19. Occasionally traverse classrooms and campus to provide instruction, advising, and instructional support.
20. Occasionally lift, move, transport, install, or remove items weighing up to 30 pounds.
21. Initiate and answer telephone calls and videoconference calls.
22. Drive to remote instructional sites or other locations in performance of duties.
23. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Instructor and Division Dean and VPAA.
FLSA Exempt Estimated Hours per Week 40 (A minimum of 30 of those to be worked on campus) Salary $45,500 - $50,000 Based on the College’s salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
