General Description of Position
Under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President for Student Success/Campus Executive Director – Beatrice/Athletic Director and Vice President of Program Development/Campus Executive Director – Lincoln, the Dean of Students/Assistant Athletic Director is a multi-functional position responsible for administrative oversight of the Lincoln campus Student Success Division/Athletics and college-wide, procedural oversight of Student Success. Work involves planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the day-to-day activities of the Lincoln Campus Student Success Division/Athletics, and college-wide leadership responsibilities related to Student Success.

This position requires travel to all SCC campuses and locations to perform the essential functions of college leadership responsibility as deemed necessary, work with the campus administration and staff on each campus to ensure effective operations, serve as the communication link between staff and campus administration, and serve as a member of the campus and college administrative units. This is a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Campus Dean of Students:

  • Provide campus supervision, leadership and management for the Lincoln Campus Student Services Division including serving as a liaison with other supervisors for on-site staff including, but not limited to the following: campus student life, student conduct, and student accountability.
  • Oversee operational compliance with all prevention and awareness programming in with campus student services staff in compliance with federal regulations (Clery Act, Violence Against Women Act, Campus Sexual Violence (SAVE) Act, Drug Free Schools & Community Act, Annual Safety Report and other federal and state requirements).
  • In coordination with the Office of Access, Equity & Diversity, responsible for processing student sexual harassment complaints, Title IX complaints, Americans with Disabilities complaints and requests, and making appropriate complaint referrals to the Campus Director, College Vice President for Student Services, and/or the college Access Equity & Diversity Administrator.
  • Represent the assigned Campus on the college-wide Campus Assessment, Response & Evaluation (CARE) team.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of resource and staff development, etc. for staff.
  • Responsible for identification and implementation of staff training needs.
  • Participate and encourage staff participation in professional development activities and professional organizations.
  • Provide positive leadership in organizing and directing group activities.
  • Meet regularly with campus Student Services staff to assist with activities such as teamwork, development, coordination, and evaluation and assessment of programs and services.
  • Facilitate group processes and manage group dynamics targeted at maintenance and improvement of services provided.
  • Responsible for the assigned Campus student services annual budget, works with designated campus and college staff in developing, justifying and managing annual budgets.
  • Serve as division representative responsible for evaluation of student services activities by internal and external assessment processes and agencies.

 

Area-wide Oversight of Student Success Process and Procedures:

  • Provide administrative oversight of all college Student Success programming, processes and procedures to include the functional areas of:
  • Student Success Coaching, Student Retention, Learn To Dream (LTD), People Obtaining Prosperity (POP), Kiewit, Special Populations, and Placement Services.
  • Travel as necessary to the representative campus and locations to work with the administration and staff to ensure effective operations in performing the essential functions related to the procedural oversight of Student Success programming.
  • Work with college staff, ensure regular updates to the Student Success websites, recruitment and program materials.
  • Work with public information/marketing in budget development and marketing/communication plan implementation as needed.

 

Assistant Athletic Director:

  • Supervise all athletic coaches, athletes and contests on the Lincoln and Milford Campuses.
  • Determine eligibility for athletes on Lincoln and Milford Campuses.
  • Oversee and maintain responsibility of game management for athletic contests.
  • Responsible for transfer tracers for assigned athletes.
  • Ensure athletic facilities meet the requirements for NJCAA compliance.
  • Responsible for oversight of contracting athletic training services.
  • Coordinate the contracting and supervision of athlete drug-testing programs for the assigned teams.
  • Develop communications and relationships for third party agreements regarding athletic facilities.
  • Assist in the fundraising efforts for all sports.
  • Provide oversight, mentoring and evaluation of assigned coaches.
  • Provide training to assigned coaches as it relates to NJCAA compliance, recruiting and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Student Services, Business, Management, Psychology or a related field of study.
  • Three (3) years* of professional-level administrative and/or supervisory experience in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting, or in a business/governmental setting which required frequent/considerable expertise with compliance issues, regulatory statutes and laws.
  • Ability to use technology relating to student success/Athletics.
  • A related Masters degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required work experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Education, Student Services, Business, Management, Psychology or a related field of study.
  • Experience working directly with college students.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA athletics policy and procedure
  • Knowledge or experience in policy review, analysis and/or assessment.
  • Experience in student/athletic personnel services.
  • Experience in advisement in a post-secondary setting.
  • Marketing/ social media experience.
  • Work experience in a post-secondary setting.

 

Salary
$90,713/yr
