Job Summary
The Financial Aid Counselor is upbeat and positive as s/he serves as the face of our continually growing institution, and plays a critical role in delivering financial aid services to Sheridan College students. As a member of the Enrollment Services team this position is responsible for the daily processing of student verifications of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the management of the Dual Grant awarding process.

Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Computer databases and records maintenance
- Experience in area of higher education financial aid programs preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to receive directed work and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel at advanced level
- Work independently and as an effective team member
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Federal and State financial aid rules and regulations
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Standard office environment
- Occasional evenings and weekends
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record

Provide in-depth financial aid counseling to prospective students, current students, and parents regarding financial aid opportunities including: FAFSA application, scholarship applications, eligibility guidelines and resources.

Responsibility/Duty
Responsible for the daily processing of student verification of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) to ensure completeness and accuracy of eligibility of federal award package. Follow policies and procedures in handling student cases, review and verify aid applications for completeness and accuracy, calculate need, resolve discrepancies, award funds, and revise awards as necessary. Manage the Dual Grant awarding process, review eligibility to ensure accuracy of grant awards.
