We have an opening for an Athletic Director at our Dyersburg State campus!

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Athletic Director is responsible for the development, management, coordination, and supervision of a competitive intercollegiate athletics program. The Athletic Director also (1) provides visionary leadership, strategic planning and development for the athletics program; (2) maintains an athletics program that is committed to the mission of the college; (3) administers the overall athletic budget; (4) provides oversight and ensures compliance with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), and Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) policies and regulations; and (5) recruits and manages the administrative, and coaching staff. This position is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of Athletics at DSCC, which includes the following sports programs: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Soccer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide overall supervision to all intercollegiate athletic programs and supervise full- and part-time coaches and athletic staff, including shared responsibility for employment decisions and full responsibility for training, mentoring, and evaluating coaches and athletic staff.

Maintain and ensure compliance with NJCAA and TCCAA by-laws and regulations and represent the college at TCCAA and NJCAA training and meetings.

Monitor and ensure equity and Title IX compliance.

Communicate frequently with the Vice President of Advancement & External Affairs (direct report) regarding day-to-day developments in the Athletic Division.

Manage athletic budgets, equipment, scheduling, and travel needs and approve budget expenditures for each intercollegiate athletic program.

Coordinate and supervise the various athletic schedules; monitor the maintenance and preparation of the athletic fields and courts to ensure safe play and maintain attractive facilities.

Ensure eligibility criteria for all sports, including all safety regulations for practice, games, team activities, and leading game-day operations.

Assist with the transport of athletic teams to and from games and tournaments.

Compile and maintain all information needed for athletic eligibility, including but not limited to medical data, releases, transfer waivers, scholarships, and NJCAA Letters of Intent (LOI) and work with coaches to determine scholarship amounts and approve LOI.

Work closely with and coordinate all athletic training functions and assist with the discipline of all teams alongside their respective coaching staff.

Along with Coaches, track and ensure the continued eligibility of all student-athletes and track study hall participation for all student-athletes and adjust required hours as needed to ensure continued academic success.

Organize and host an athletic awards recognition program.

Plan, develop, and organize athletic summer camps alongside respective coaching staff.

Coordinate the use of college vehicles with athletic personnel and the Office of Finance and Administrative Services.

Coordinate with the Office of Marketing and Public Relations to develop marketing plans for all athletic programs and oversee the website content and social media platforms for Athletics.

Work with the Office of Advancement & External Affairs to coordinate the development of long-term operation strategies and facilities planning and actively promote, participate in, and set goals for athletic fundraising, and ensure compliance with TBR and DSCC policies.

Develop and track all programmatic outcomes in accordance with the college’s strategic plan and assist the VP of Advancement & External Affairs in setting yearly objectives for Athletics and submit a mid-year and end-of-year program summary to the VP of Advancement & External Affairs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement & External Affairs and the President.

Working Conditions:

Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 50 lbs), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Occasional exposure to risk is controlled by safety precautions. Frequency or severity is limited. Travel, including overnight travel, will be required to and from games and for college or program activities.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.

No less than three (3) years of experience in Athletics or experience as a full- time

coach (any sport) at a college or university level.

Previous work experience in supervision of personnel/management.

Ability to work well with persons from various social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution preferred.

Previous work experience as an Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director at a college or university level.

Previous work experience following and maintaining compliance with NJCAA or NCAA regulations.

Obtain/maintain a commercial driver’s license.

Starting minimum pay is $49,100 annually ($25.18 an hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum pay of $61,400.
