Job Description
Richland Community College is seeking applicants for two Full-Time English Faculty (Tenure-Track) Positions. A tenure-track faculty member is responsible for planning, preparing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating classroom instruction in English and in other possible areas of specialization. Other responsibilities include participating in course and curriculum development and evaluation. Faculty also participate on assigned college committees and taskforces and collaborate with various colleagues and stakeholders to address and respond to relevant issues affecting student success.

The regular fall and spring course load for English faculty requires three composition courses and one other humanities, fine arts, or other qualified general education course. Instructors can expect to teach in different modalities (traditional, hybrid, and online) and locations (main campus and partner high schools). Opportunities for overload and summer teaching are available. These positions begin Fall 2023.

Salary commensurate with education and experience, per the current collective bargaining agreement .

Required Qualifications
This position requires a Masters degree in Composition/Rhetoric or English, knowledge of current best practices, methods, research, and theories in first-year composition, and a commitment to working with first-generation students of diverse backgrounds. Qualified candidates will have at least 1 year of prior teaching experience using multiple modalities and will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered pedagogy.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have coursework beyond the Masters degree and a specialization (18 graduate hours) in another discipline including communication/speech, foreign language, and/or cultural studies. The preferred candidate will also have experience teaching college composition in a community college setting. Consideration will also be given to candidates with a specialization in the English humanities and fine arts.

Physical Demands
Teaching assignments may include daytime, evening, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
Operates standard office equipment such as phone and computer on a frequent basis.
Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information, including electronic communications.
Is available for occasional irregular hours and travel.
Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
Provides timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines.
Responds to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues

Salary
Salary commensurate with education and experience, per the current collective bargaining agreement.
