Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President, Learning & Engagement, the Teaching & Learning Center Director will provide overarching leadership for the operations of the Colleges Teaching and Learning Center. The Center will provide coordinated professional development, process improvements and support to IHCC faculty and staff. The Teaching & Learning Center Director will be responsible for designing faculty training curriculum focused on best practices in instructional design and delivery, developing procedures for classroom observations of faculty, conducting advising sessions with full-time faculty, overseeing a full-time instructional coach as well as part-time teaching & learning specialists, among other duties.

Minimum Job Requirements:


  • Masters degree required in education or related field.
  • Five years postsecondary experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning, curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology integration.
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Very strong interpersonal, communication and process-oriented leadership skills.


Work Performed:


  • Manage the Teaching and Learning Center on the Ottumwa Main Campus;
  • Develop and offer trainings on a variety of topics for faculty and staff;
  • Develop and implement procedures for instructional observations and advisement;
  • Implement New Faculty Academy;
  • Develop online training modules, including modules for full-time, adjunct and concurrent faculty and staff;
  • Serve on IHCCs Quality Faculty Plan Committee to update the Quality Faculty Plan based on instructional activities and best practices;
  • Collaborate with IT staff and administrators to select locations and supplies for technology-enhanced, collaborative learning classrooms at IHCC locations;
  • Design and offer trainings and targeted faculty and staff support on effective use of online collaborative learning software and technology;
  • Provide institutional leadership in implementation and training regarding Open Educational Resources (OER);
  • Supervise and provide effective feedback to members of the Teaching & Learning Center team;
  • Perform hiring, mentoring and assigning work for Teaching & Learning Center faculty and staff;
  • Manage the Teaching and Learning Center budget;
  • Represent the college at meetings of the Iowa Community College Teaching & Learning Centers, as well as other statewide meetings as requested;
  • Serve on various on-campus and statewide committees to represent the Teaching & Learning Center and engage in the work of Indian Hills Community College;
  • Participate in Title III Steering Committee meetings; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Level:
Program Director - Exempt – Traditional Funding –at will employment on a letter of employment

Employment Length:
4 Term, Full Time, Benefits

Schedule:
9 hrs/day, Monday-Thursday

Salary Range:
$59,176.00 - 65,255.00
