Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginias capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Assistant Manager, Student Financial Services sets up, tests, validates and updates the colleges Student Information System (SIS) as it relates to the student financials module. This position works with VCCS staff to implement and test the SIS student financial modules upgrades and maintain record of write offs and manage the enrollment cancellation process. The Assistant Manager effectively implements SIS student financial upgrades and tests new/revised functionality; and participates with other SIS functional leads testing new applications and prospective enhancements; approve batches and reviews financial aid awards and disbursement reconciliations; and perform other accounting related functions as necessary. This position also manages staff responsible for tuition payments and financial aid disbursements; and staff who processes student refunds and other related student financial operations.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and statements and to apply accounting principles, practices and policies to a variety of financial transactions. Ability to utilize technology to support delivery of student related financial services. Ability to interpret policy to analyze and solve problems within automated accounting system software applications set-ups and to recognize, understand and assign functional automated financial system security roles within such systems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to train supporting staff. Ability to analyze software to recommend system enhancements and to project future operational needs. Graduation from a college or university with major studies in accounting or related curriculum; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of all phases of automated accounting systems is referred. Experience in supervising staff processing financial disbursements; and College student financial information system experience are also preferred.
