General Statement of Duties

The Senior Special Programs Coordinator for the SUCCESS Scholars Program (In-House title: SUCCESS Coordinator) will serve to direct activities that support an intensive student success and advising model and collaborate with institutional partners to develop and facilitate programming for all MWCC students. This position will also assist students throughout their first year enrollment life cycle from initial advising (post-admission) to either graduation or transition to their second year advisor by providing academic advising and student success services in all modalities (in-person, online, email, phone) consistent with established best practices of the SUCCESS Scholars Program and the Office of Advising, Career & Transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Use the developmental advising/mentoring/coaching approach and employ proactive, sustained, and strengths-based strategies to ensure the success of a caseload of students enrolled in the newly founded "Bridge to SUCCESS" program designed to increase persistence through completion and/or transfer.
  • Perform new, transfer, and readmitted student intake advising and assist students with educational planning including, but not limited to: academic, career, and transfer resources of the College.
  • Manages a small caseload of SUCCESS Scholars.
  • Work closely with Advising, Career, and Transfer (ACT) Office to assist in the academic advising and course registration process for SUCCESS cohort.
  • Foster linkages between academic and student support programs/services to build a holistic SUCCESS network that provides options, referrals, and alternative solutions for SUCCESS scholars facing adversity or challenges. Collaborate with campus and community-based resources to provide responsive wrap-around services for students.
  • Establish meaningful relationships with students focused on academic and personal success (inside and outside of the classroom) while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where every SUCCESS scholar feels they have an opportunity to set and reach their individual goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SUCCESS cohort students. As the point of contact, SUCCESS Advisors will connect students with MWCC supports and facilitate solution-focused conversations focused on helping SUCCESS scholars overcome academic and life obstacles/challenges.
  • Coordinates activities, programming and outreach initiatives with SUCCESS Scholar staff, advising partners and faculty advisors.
  • Lead programs and activities designed to cultivate academic self-confidence, community engagement, 21st century life skills, self-advocacy, and a sense of participatory involvement on all aspects of campus and academic life.
  • Create, implement, and facilitate (or encourage attendance in) workshops and events for SUCCESS cohort on a variety of topics including academic skills, career exploration, financial literacy, leadership development, and student life activities.
  • Monitor and manage data pertaining to students, projects and activities. Supports assessment efforts of these activities and the SUCCESS Scholar Program.
  • Develops, implements and maintains the Student Success Mentorship program in collaboration with the second year SUCCESS Coordinator.
  • Actively participate in College enrollment and retention strategies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of college and professional academic, career and transfer advising practices to enhance ability to serve students and positively affect student success.
  • Travel to other campuses as required.

 

Two positions are available:

One will report to the Assistant Director of Advising & Student Success and focus on first-year student success initiatives.

One position will report to the Director of Advising, Career & Transfer and focus on supporting students who work with other advising partners and faculty advisors.

Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment;
  • Three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include business management, program/project management, grant administration, budget development, community relations, curriculum development, education, counseling, substance abuse, non-traditional student services, or public assistance programs; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Travel is required to other MWCC campuses.

Additional Information:


In-house Title: SUCCESS Coordinator
Salary: $58,320.00-$99,407.00**

** Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.
