Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, enhances the Executive Director of Development’s effectiveness by providing support and representing the executive director to others.

Provides support to the entire development team and the campaign for SLCC.

Handles work of a highly confidential and sensitive nature. Provides good customer service. Works with and communicate with all levels of administration, faculty, and staff in all departments of the College, students, and members of the SLCC Foundation and Planned Giving Advisory Council; Provides support to SLCC Foundation events and activities.
Prepares proposals, correspondence, and interacts with major donors and potential major donors.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assists the Executive Director of Development and members of the development team with carrying out day-to-day activities of the Office of Development and the SLCC Foundation. Tasks include preparing proposals and donor correspondence as well as managing donor relations. Also involved in scheduling, calendar management, meeting planning, and coordination with the Development office team.

Provides communication with and prepares meeting notices for the Foundation board, Planned Giving Advisory, and Alumni Leadership Council. Provides support for development meetings such as catering, room scheduling and coordination of meeting times and dates. Participates and contributes to College wide events.
Maintains records for the department following College policies and procedures. Completes data integrity/clean up tasks as assigned. Manages website pages and social media posts as requested.
Provides support to maintain the development office budget; entering, tracking and reconciling expenses, purchasing card charge and receipts.

Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Prepares and supports the development team in occasional travel, parking permits and keys. Interfaces with other departments on behalf of development.
Provides support for onboarding new employees in the department. Provides coverage for Institutional Advancement front desk, answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, as needed.

Provides coordination with other SLCC offices including purchasing, food service and other internal service agencies as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or two years (60 completed credit hours) post-secondary education in a related field.
Three (3) years of direct, paid, full time work experience.
Additional education or experience may be considered as a trade-off to meet minimum requirements on a one year to one year ratio.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of general office procedures, and practices.

Ability to work under pressure, and manage multiple projects, meeting timelines and objectives successfully, with moderate supervision.

Consistently complete detail-oriented work effectively under stress.

Knowledge of budgets, budget reconciliation, and basic accounting.

Demonstrated ability to work with and safeguard confidential information.

Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to converse and correspond professionally and comfortably with people at all levels, internally and externally.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Power Point and other software applications.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the college.

Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
