Job Description

Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is a vibrant, pluralistic learning community committed to the intellectual and personal growth of students. BMCC bridges the economic and education opportunity gap for students, more than half of whom are the first in their families to attend college. CUNYs Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) provides comprehensive and personalized support and resources to students that help remove barriers to full-time study, support academic momentum, and build a connected community. Support and resources include personalized advisement, career counseling, tutoring, tuition gap scholarships, and additional financial assistance to cover the cost of textbooks.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Assistant Director of Recruitment, in addition to the CUNY Title, will design and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan to meet annual recruitment targets. The successful candidate will coordinate all recruitment and enrollment activities for prospective ASAP students in collaboration with Enrollment Management, the ASAP Associate Director and other ASAP staff. Additionally, the Assistant Director will perform duties including but not limited to:

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and academic advisement leads to develop recruitment strategies aimed at reaching enrollment targets for ASAP

  • Supervise two full-time recruitment coordinators

  • Develop and execute all recruitment related communications and activities including but not limited to processes for confirming prospective student residency and financial aid status for program eligibility

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Colleges Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications, and related units to further integrate ASAP into all campus marketing, recruiting, and enrollment strategies

  • Identify and implement strategies for managing the local program social media accounts and website to support recruitment and engagement efforts. Supervise, train and delegate various recruitment and enrollment tasks across a team of recruitment staff (inclusive of student ambassadors, peer mentors, or student leaders) to reach enrollment targets

  • Develop collaborative relationships with CUNY pre-matriculation programs and related units including high schools, HSE programs and college access networks and advisors to strengthen program recruiting pipelines

  • Manage the coding of students in CUNYfirst at various stages of the recruiting process

  • Represent ASAP at all internal enrollment/student success meetings/committees and serve as the point of contact to present on ASAP at external college access events and conferences

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in an appropriate discipline and four years' related experience, with at least 1 year of direct recruitment experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students, including structural racism, from diverse urban backgrounds

  • Experience with pre-enrollment advisement and the financial aid process

  • Strong organization, project management, written and verbal communication, and facilitation skills

  • Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude to learn new systems as needed, CUNYFirst experience

  • Strong ability to communicate program requirements effectively to students

  • Demonstrates the ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, faculty and community members

  • Familiarity with using social media tools/analytics

Conducts and coordinates student recruiting and other admissions activities.

  • Counsels prospective, transfer, and current students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College, and assists them in preparing academic plans

  • Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant

  • Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration

  • Reviews applications and provides preliminary recommendations on admissions

  • Participates in recruitment programs such as open house sessions, and direct recruiting activities

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary : 70,238 - $79,188
