Job Description
Competency to teach lower-division college courses in Computer Science, including introductory courses in computer systems/applications and computer science, and introductory programming/ problem solving, algorithms and data structures courses.

A faculty members work assignment includes a number of diverse professional responsibilities. Classroom teaching and other contacts with students form the core of the faculty work assignment. Additionally, professional development and service to the college are the other core components of a faculty members work assignment. A faculty member will plan to engage in such activities as: student advising, course evaluation, classroom preparation, the evaluation of student performance, committee assignments, classroom research and community service as part of overall work assignment.

Required Qualifications
  • Masters degree with a major in computer science, or Masters degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in computer science.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience in Computer Science is highly desired.
  • Excellent knowledge in Java and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience in teaching Computer Architecture, Database/SQL, Python and Web Development
  • Experience teaching at a two-year college level
  • Experience with or willingness to perform outreach activities with area schools, other colleges/universities and with local business and industry.
  • Experience in teaching using a variety of delivery methods including synchronous online, asynchronous online, hybrid, and in-person.
  • The applicant should demonstrate knowledge of diverse cultures and populations.
  • Ability to provide faculty leadership in Computer Science curricula including Cyber security.
  • Ability to provide leadership within the department and other college wide initiatives.
  • Ability to provide faculty leadership in related student life activities.
