Salary: By Level of Education 

  • No degree - $10 per hour
  • Associate degree - $12 per hour
  • Bachelor's degree - $15 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides intrusive academic and tutorial support in designated courses to
    participants through one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions.
  • Provides mentoring and motivational support to participants.
  • Assists participants with developing the essential study skills for academic success.
  • Learning sessions may be held virtually at the Academic Success Center or an on-campus location designated by the Associate Director for Academic Success.
  • Maintains accurate records of learning sessions.
  • Serves as a role model for all students seeking academic assistance.
  • Be punctual for all scheduled learning sessions.
  • Prepares supplemental materials.
  • Helps procure and organize teaching materials.
  • Attends tutor training sessions regularly and scheduled staff meetings.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned to achieve project goals and objectives.

Required Education: At least 2 years of undergraduate studies. Must attach a copy of transcript(s).

Required Experience: 

  • Must have earned a B or higher in the subject(s) to work in.
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate study.

Required Licenses or Certifications: 

Preferred Education: Associate or advanced degree

Preferred Experience: 

  • Strong managerial skills
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of course content
  • Interest in working with and assisting fellow students
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to be empathetic to students having academic difficulties
  • Sensitivity to student diversity
  • Outstanding customer and computer skills
  • Willingness to assist distance education students
  • Knowledge of campus resources, services, policies & procedures
  • Participate in professional development activities

Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
