Academic Faculty 171-Day Contract, Tenure Track Appointment, Benefits Eligible.

 

The primary location is the Carson Campus. Future reassignment is possible based on the needs of the students and the institution; this may include classes on other WNC campuses, remote sites, rural centers, online, or via remote video. 

 

This position is subject to the NSHE Procedures and Guidelines Manual, Chapter 3, Section 8, adopted by the Board of Regents, June 16-17, 2011, and effective July 1, 2011.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university in mathematics or a closely related field with 18 credits of graduate level mathematics is required.

  • A thorough understanding of the purpose and function of community colleges is required.

  • Experience as an instructor of record of college level courses is required.

  • Experience teaching with distance education/online modalities is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. from a regionally accredited university is preferred.

  • Experience with diverse populations is a plus. 

  • Experience with course and program assessment is preferred.

  • Fluency in Spanish is a strength.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach a minimum of 30 instructional units per academic year (not including summer).

  • Teach day, evening, or online transfer-level mathematics or related classes.

  • Develop traditional and alternative methodologies, and teach using traditional and alternative methodologies (remote video, online platforms, etc.).

  • Participate in student advisement.

  • Participate in course and program level assessment, and participate in program review. 

  • Serve on college and system committees as required.

  • Perform all responsibilities set forth in Board of Regents Handbook, Title 2, Chapter 4, Section 4.4.2." 

  • Participate in college and community service activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Starting Salary Range:

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Masters degree, the starting salary range would be $46,691 to $58,364 annually. The maximum starting salary is up to $70,038 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for the initial salary placement purposes. Salary placement is subject to salary compression and seniority considerations.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
WNC is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
