Job Description

The Department of Art & Art History at Hunter College welcomes applications for three (3) open-rank, tenure-track positions in Studio Art. We seek to fill two (2) positions in Sculpture and related contemporary practices and one (1) in Ceramics.

All three positions require a comprehensive understanding of the histories and cultural practices that inform contemporary art practice, as well as a demonstrated understanding of various traditional and contemporary aspects of three-dimensional making. Successful applicants will share the programs commitment to pedagogical diversity and experimentation.

Responsibilities include ongoing creative research; graduate teaching and advising in Hunters nationally recognized MFA program; and teaching the colleges diverse undergraduate population in the beginning and advanced courses in Sculpture and/or Ceramics. Active participation in the administrative operations of the department, including serving as faculty area head overseeing the undergraduate and graduate Sculpture shops and/or Ceramics studios is a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:

An MFA degree or a BA/BFA plus significant professional experience is required. Qualified candidates must have an active practice and demonstrable professional accomplishments and/or exhibition record, as well as college level teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantships on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should be willing able to teach in conjunction with curatorial initiatives.

VACCINE REQUIREMENT

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Assistant Professor: $52,267 - $99,532

Associate Professor: $67,784 - $117,805

Full Professor: $83,878 - $141,858
