Director of Admissions and Outreach

 

LOCATION: NDSCS-Wahpeton

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month

JOB SUMMARY: The Director must be a high-energy, engaging, and creative team player that will lead a team of educational recruiters, outreach specialists, and admission office personnel. The Director is responsible for student recruitment planning for both in-person, on-line programs, outreach activity, and office management. The Director will supervise the admissions and recruitment team, maintain and improve office systems; address technology needs; establish departmental goals and institutional objectives for timely quality/customer service; develop and implement, in collaboration with faculty, administration and staff, ambitious, comprehensive recruitment and marketing strategies to achieve the College's student enrollment. The plan will enable the college to identify, recruit, select and enroll high school students, transfer students, and working professionals.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, strategy, and operational support for the Recruiting, Admissions, and Outreach department.
  • Set the tone and vision to provide world-class customer service to both current and prospective students
  • Provide budget management and oversight for the Recruiting, Admissions, and Outreach department.
  • Manage, plan, and budget human resource functions of department.
  • Leverage the appropriate technology to update, track, and analyze prospective student enrollment data.
  • The Director will regularly analyze recruitment data and the effectiveness of the recruiting plan.
  • Develop ambitious enrollment goals for in-person, dual-credit, and online programs at Wahpeton and Fargo locations.
  • Provide leadership for all NDSCS recruiting policies, goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Lead, and be actively engaged in, process for continuous improvement for the Recruiting, Admissions, and Outreach Department.
  • Serve as a member of the Presidents Management team, advising the President on important matters relating to recruiting.
  • Participate and collaborate with NDUS organizations on initiatives and opportunities.
  • Be highly effective in collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, including high schools, local business and industry, NDSCS faculty, staff, administration, and others.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs.

Benefits


 

SALARY: $70,000 -$80,000

Required Competencies

 
  • Must support the mission, vision and values of North Dakota State College of Science
  • Bachelors degree in Education, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or other related area of specialization; or associate degree with equivalent demonstrated work experience.
  • Five (5) years of admissions or recruiting experience in higher education or related area.
  • Five (5) years of professional supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Experience providing ‘World-Class customer service.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Experience managing multi-faceted budgets.
  • Experience with human resource management and supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

 
  • Community College recruiting and/or outreach experience.
  • Experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of North Dakota University System policies and procedures.
