Job Summary

Performing Arts House Management Internship. Work with SLCC Performing Arts faculty to manage on and off campus performing arts events, including ticket sales, house management, and technical management for rentals and campus events.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

The Performing Arts House Management intern will work with SLCC Theatre, Dance, Film, and Music programs as the house manager for performances and events across the department, both on campus and off. Student will supervise other students at performance events, and their duties will include ticket sales, money management, audience communication, and management of ticket sales software programs. Schedule will include management of daytime and evening, and weekend events for theatre, dance, film, and music as well as outside programs in SLCC facilities. This student will serve as assistant to the Black Box facilities manager to help manage incoming space rentals and usage.

Problem Solving: Students in this position will be provided tools to manage people, organize, and effectively identify and solve any problems that may arise.

Team Work/Collaboration: Students in this position will work closely with all Performing Arts Faculty, and The Grand Theatre, in order to determine the specific needs of the arts departments in order to create unique marketing plans. Student will supervise student usher teams for events.

Communication: Students will work with faculty, artists, and audience developing interpersonal communication skills.

Leadership Skills: Student will be expected to take initiative and become a leader for the audience and front of house while students, faculty, and artists are preparing and performing their work.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Salt Lake Community College Student
2.0 GPA
At least 9 credit hours during Fall and Spring semester
Must not be receiving a student tuition waiver

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work with computer software programs

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to work well with people (audience, faculty, and students.)
Professional in behavior and attitude.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
