Position Summary

Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a dynamic and talented ten-month tenure-track Assistant Professor, Counseling to join our team of higher education faculty who are committed to student success. Essential Functions

The Assistant Professor, Counseling will provide a full range of counseling (e.g., personal, crisis, career, academic), advising (e.g., academic, transfer), and presentation skills. The Counselor will work with individual and groups of students to help them be successful in their educational and career goals. This position will have an emphasis on student retention, success, and completion through holistic student support.

The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, empathic counselor who fosters collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of appropriate counseling strategies and best practices associated with counseling in an academic environment. The successful individual will demonstrate the spirit of an effective communicator and collaborative faculty member with a strong understanding of the Colleges mission and goals for our students. The Assistant Professor, Counseling will also have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive retention and completion results.

 
Experience & Education

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of one-to-two (1-2) years of counseling or related experience. Candidate should have knowledge of personal development, individual counseling issues and life/career goal setting. A Masters degree from an accredited college or university in counseling or related field. Previous experience working in a higher education setting is preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, possibly one evening weekly.
