Job Description
General Statement of Responsibilities
Instructor is responsible for assisting with all aspects of library service; provides direct service to students, faculty, staff, and the public; assists in materials selection and weeding; instructs groups in the use of the library, especially its electronic resources; cooperates and communicates with faculty in developing assignments, providing instruction, and maintaining areas of subject expertise. Participate in the full range of professional and college-related activities, including professional development, departmental and college-wide meetings, and community involvement. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the library department of Rogue Community College.
Supervision Received
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
Examples of Duties - Essential Functions
1. Provides excellent public service to library users.
2. Answers reference questions from the college community and the public.
3. Develops and implements bibliographic instruction programs, including online and residential library instruction courses and orientations.
4. Works collaboratively to develop strategies for providing bibliographic instruction for distance learning.
5. Develops library instructional materials and research guides in written and electronic formats.
6. Trains college staff in the use of library resources.
7. May provide back-up assistance at the circulation desk.
8. Participates in the development of the library collection. Selects and de-selects appropriate library materials for the general collection, based on curriculum and other information needs.
9. Collaborates with other faculty in development and support of new curricular areas, building articulations to other departments and institutions, as appropriate.
10. Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional growth plan.
11. Represents the program and the College to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.
12. Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is an Adjunct Faculty position for teaching in the Library Services department at the Redwood Campus in Grants Pass.
