Job Summary

Support Faculty/Staff/Students at Library Square Center and other Salt Lake Community College locations as needed. Participate in the daily operation of the center. Provide accurate and consistent information. Assist faculty with classroom technology, supplies, and other services. Assist students and prospective students with admissions, registration, records, and college program questions. Connect faculty and students with additional resources, as needed. Lock up building at closing. Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner. Provide accurate, consistent information.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Serve as front-line contact and create a welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  2. Participate in the daily operation Student Services desk.
  3. Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner.
  4. Provide accurate, consistent information.
  5. Open and close building and classrooms. Report building/safety issues. Setup conference room.
  6. Use college software (Banner, MySLCC, and SLCC website) to trouble-shoot issues with application and registration.
  7. Assist students with the admissions and application process.
  8. Assist faculty with classroom setup and entry, laptop checkout, supplies, electronic support, and technology. Checkout program-specific supplies.
  9. Perform functions related to the Information Desk, including knowledge about OneCard, Parking, and Cashiering Services.
  10. Participate in staff meetings, internal/local conferences, and training to stay current on college information.
  11. Support other entities within the department through cross-training and filling in as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
One (1) year related work experience
Basic computer skills.
Additional education may be substituted for work experience on a 1:1 basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in customer service
Experience working with diverse populations
Experience in higher education, either as a student or as an employee
Bilingual or Multilingual

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Excellent customer service skills, cultural competencies and sensibilities.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively with other office staff at a variety of campuses and departments
  3. Organizational and processing skills with a high level of accuracy
  4. Basic computer literacy, including word processing, data management, and internal navigation
  5. Knowledge of general office procedures and etiquette
  6. Ability to use basic office equipment and computer database systems and programs
  7. Ability to safeguard protected information
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College and community.
  9. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Evening shift until 10:00 p.m. Mon-Thu. and 4:30 on Fridays (Up to 125 hours per month)

Special Instructions

Evening shift 2:00p.m.-10:00 p.m. Mon-Thu. and some Fridays until 4:30p.m. (Up to 125 hours per month) . Based at Library Square Center, but position will move to the Wespointe Center Starting Summer semester 2023

Position will involve occasional travel to other Salt Lake Community College campuses.

This position will require the successful completion of a criminal background check
