Job Summary

Support students, staff, faculty, community members, and guests by providing exceptional customer service over the phone and in-person. Assist current and prospective students, sponsoring agencies, and other educational partners by providing accurate information on college programs and services.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Serve as front-line contact and create a welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  2. Participate in the daily operation of the center.
  3. Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner.
  4. Provide accurate, consistent information.
  5. Assist faculty with classroom setup and entry, laptop checkout, supplies, electronic support, and technology.
  6. Checkout program-specific supplies.
  7. Open and close building and classrooms.
  8. Report building/safety issues.
  9. Use college software (Banner, MySLCC, and SLCC website) to trouble-shoot issues with application and registration.
  10. Assist students with the admissions and application process.
  11. Help process transcript requests, residency documentation, enrollment verification forms, and other documents.
  12. Perform functions related to the Information Desk, including knowledge about OneCard, Parking, and Cashiering Services.
  13. Participate in staff meetings and trainings to stay current on college information.
  14. Support other entities within the department through cross-training and filling in as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED
One (1) year related work experience
Basic computer skills.
Additional education may be substituted for work experience on a 1:1 basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education or customer service
Experience working with diverse populations
Experience in higher education, either as a student or as an employee
Bilingual or Multilingual

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Excellent customer service skills, cultural competencies and sensibilities.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively with other office staff at a variety of campuses and departments
  3. Organizational and processing skills with a high level of accuracy
  4. Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently
  5. Basic computer literacy, including word processing, data management, and internal navigation
  6. Knowledge of general office procedures and etiquette
  7. Ability to use basic office equipment and computer database systems and programs
  8. Ability to safeguard protected information
  9. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College and community.
  10. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

Special Instructions

SLCC Westpointe Campus: Flex start time Mon-Thu, between 8:00am-10:00am with flex end time between 1:00pm-4:30pm & Fri, 8:00am– 4:30pm flex

Based at WPC but could include work/travel to other SLCC campuses.
