Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations, the Director, Talent Development develops and facilitates professional, management and leadership development programs. Provides overall leadership and support in the orientation and development of all College employees throughout the employees careers. This position actively searches for, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to facilitate, enhance performance and recognition for the acquisition of new talents, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Conduct annual learning needs assessment and make recommendations for professional development for individuals and work groups.
  • Manage the transition to a common review date and implementation of Performance Management procedures from Coaching and Counseling, Performance Reviews, Professional Development and Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and make presentations as required.
  • Partner with CCM Workforce Development (WFD) to identify courses for employees using WFD facilitators.
  • Assist employees in creating professional development plans.
  • Recommend and implement programs to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Train and coach managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts. Acts as a resource to coach managers through employee relations issues.
  • Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. Modify programs as needed.
  • Provide orientation to new Search and Selection Committee members including training on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Assume other related duties as required and/or as directed by the Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations.

 


Qualifications - Education
A Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management, Training and Development, Adult Learning or a related field is required. A Masters degree in an appropriate discipline is preferred. SHRM or HRCI certifications a plus. At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in HR or Talent Development is required. The ability to develop, customize and facilitate professional development courses is required. A thorough knowledge of all applicable federal/state laws, statutes, and regulations is required. The ability to interact with a culturally diverse population is essential.

Qualifications - Experience
The Director, Talent Development should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong platform skills and be adept with a variety of multimedia learning platforms and methods. Have the ability to evaluate and research learning options and alternatives and the ability to develop, customize and present professional development materials. This individual should also have an understanding of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion implications of decision making. Certifications in programs like DiSC, Situational Leadership, DEI, Strength Finders, and Emotional Intelligence are desired. Functions as an internal coach. Must have the ability to help others to realize their potential and blocks to professional growth.
