Job Summary
This position is limited to August 4, 2023 with the possibility of renewal after annual review.

The Coordinator of non-credit ESL coordinates student recruitment, placement, enrollment, scheduling, and data management for the non-credit English Language Studies (ELS) program at CCRI. The Coordinator manages the instructional services supporting students enrolled in ELS in addition to providing staffing and operations support for Corporate Language Training (CLT) programs. The Coordinator also assists with Spanish language support in the Workforce Partnerships Providence Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage Operations of Instructional Program

  • Schedule and oversee testing of students for placement
  • Order books and other instructional materials with support of office staff.
  • Respond to student inquiries and concerns professionally and in a timely manner to support program enrollment and positive student outcomes.
  • Manage annual evaluation and professional development of instructors.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using surveys and in class observations.

Detail Orientation/ Organization / Data Capability

  • Keep detailed and organized records of student participation using online enrollment systems (ex: Banner, Augusoft).
  • Query databases and use Office and other data presentation software to generate reports on program activities.
  • Use enrollment and progress data to identify and suggest program improvements

Knowledge of English Language Instruction

  • Maintain certifications in and knowledge of level descriptors and assessments used for and by English Language Learners. Know how assessments connect to educational options available to students.
  • Be able to teach non-credit ESL as needed both online and in person.
  • Understand and advocate for evidence-based program practices that meet the needs and issues of the student population and are characterized by representation and inclusion of all students.
  • Model and support skills and attitudes necessary for lifelong self-directed learning.

Teamwork and Communication Skills

  • Collaborate with Director and workforce staff to define and deliver yearly program schedule. Support scheduling and logistics of instructional programs.
  • Support instructional staff to orient and evaluate new students and to increase retention of students through multiple levels.
  • Work both within the college and externally to market non-credit language programs with up to date program information monthly.
  • Cross train with other adult education staff on course/program registration processes and maintain ability to support enrollment operations when needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of Workforce Partnership programs and disseminate program information online, by telephone and in person
  • Participate in professional development and other training as needed to maintain and increase skills.
  • Other job-related duties required by the position.

Technology:

  • Use desktop and cloud based digital tools to develop materials and share information collaboratively.
  • Locate, evaluate, and share current and emerging digital resources that support non-credit language programs.
  • Other job-related duties required by the position.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Masters degree with three years of relevant experience or a bachelors degree with five years of experience teaching ESL to adult learners required.
  • Must be committed to learner-centered instruction and use of research-based best practices.
  • Experience with computerized file maintenance, spreadsheets, desktop publishing software necessary; proficiency with word processing and database applications essential.
  • Accuracy and precision in data reporting necessary. Strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to work independently in an extremely busy environment. Excellent organizational skills required.

Competencies and Desired Qualifications

  • TESOL credential preferred.
