Summary
The successful candidate for this full-time, tenure-track position will
be primarily responsible for teaching lower-division courses in English
composition, critical thinking, and literature. Teaching assignments
may include nights and weekends. This faculty position will provide
face-to-face instruction at the assigned location (Eureka) and may also
occasionally include classes offered via other modalities as part of the
regular teaching load. Teaching assignment may include nights and
weekends.

Additional responsibilities and duties include:
  • Participation in institutional, program and course-level assessment
  • Participation in the colleges shared governance process
  • Participation in professional development activities in the
discipline

Anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2023.
Qualifications

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Community college teaching experience, especially experience
teaching a variety of literature courses and critical thinking and
composition.
  • Experience with curricular and program development and
assessment, especially in support of the associate degree in
English and study of the humanities.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and evaluating faculty.
  • Experience developing effective working relationships with
colleagues, including student support services, instructional
programs, and/or community agencies.

Education and Experience
Required Qualifications
  • Masters in English, literature, comparative literature, or
composition OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters
in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in
reading, creative writing or journalism OR the equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in working
collaboratively with colleagues and community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and/or experience in lower-division
teaching of diverse student populations, including first-generation
college students, low-socioeconomic students, and racially
minoritized students.

Starting Salary: $56,817 - $79,534/Annually (Salary range continues to a maximum of $123,406/Annually based on education)

Conditions of Employment

College of the Redwoods Faculty Organization is the exclusive bargaining representative for College of the Redwoods faculty employees. Each employee hired into a faculty position shall contribute to the administration of this contract by membership dues or service fees.

Initial salary placement is determined by education and teaching/professional experience. Refer to the CRFO Collective Bargaining Agreement for specific details on salary placement.
