YesJob Summary
Work in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Department as reception and administrative support. The Specialist will be responsible for: greeting students, faculty, staff, and the general public; scheduling appointments; helping students get assistance with ESL services; answering phone calls; performing clerical duties involving data entry and word processing; typing correspondence; providing support to service providers as needed, and other routine support functions.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
The Specialist will assist students studying in the ESL Program and the navigation of the ESL services. Will schedule appointments and handle walk-in inquiries. Perform the following clerical functions: word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, document filing, faxing, and photocopying. Update student files. Answer telephones, redirect callers, take messages for staff, answer general questions, provide support to students and staff; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of: business English, math, spelling, punctuation, college application and registration procedures, general office procedures, basic computer skills, excellent communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Must be dependable and reliable.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
