The Nursing Coach position is a part-time position responsible for assisting students in the Nursing Program on both the Davidson and Davie campuses. Primary duty includes providing assistance designed to promote student success for nursing students. The coach collaborates with faculty to help increase awareness of tutoring services and assists in development of skills and confidence necessary for academic success. This position reports directly to the Director, Learning Commons.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director, Learning Commons in managing the daily operations of the Nursing Coaching Center
  • Maintain open, robust, and timely communication with colleagues and supervisor
  • Provide assistance to students on Davidson and Davie campuses both onsite and online as requested by the Director, Learning Commons
  • Provide academic support that promotes equitable student outcomes
  • Cross refer students to other Learning Commons coaching centers, academic support workshops, and other campus resources and services as needed and appropriate
  • Lead academic support workshops in class and in the Learning Commons when appropriate and assigned by the Director, Learning Commons
  • Assist in other coaching centers as needed and as appropriate
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation including that needed for FTE recording and audit purposes
  • Prepare reports as requested by the Director, Learning Commons
  • Monitor the proper usage of facilities
  • Collaborate with faculty concerning students academic progress and needs
  • Recommend appropriate resources for students
  • Promote awareness of the Learning Commons coaching centers among faculty, staff, and students
  • Collaborate with the Learning Commons staff to develop meaningful evaluations of services and use data to inform decision making processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Nursing
  • Flexible schedule to meet student demand for tutoring times
  • Willingness to work at other locations
  • Creativity, flexibility and openness to change
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in using multiple computer applications
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate with others in a team environment
  • Openness and willingness to engage in professional development activities
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Masters degree from an accredited institution in Nursing with an education concentration
  • Experience working with college students in a flexible setting
  • Experience as a tutor

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $31.88 - $35.76 per hour

Standard shift:

  • Day shift

Weekly schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: One location
