Job Description

Job Summary

Oversees administrative and operational tasks for department financials and budgets. Manages Talent Engagement activities for the department with regard to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations. Ensures compliance with all HCC, Coleman, and Texas Board of Nursing audit requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage and oversee the procurement, travel documentation, accounts payable and receivable, and general accounting-related issues for all cost centers.

Provide supervision of departmental staff including, but not limited to: work assignments, daily office operations, define job duties, set performance development plans and goals, conduct annual performance reviews and assist with the implementation of organizational and operational decisions.

Serve as liaison for the chair, faculty and staff with other college departments and offices.

Facilitate regular staff meetings to provide information and training, promote professional effectiveness, and to review current practices and procedures.

Review personnel and administrative documents for adherence to HCC and accreditation regulations prior to obtaining certifying signature.

May coordinate and compile information for the programs, and coordinate implementation of related policies and procedures.

Maintain department records, including employee/faculty information and payroll, audit and track submitted forms, work orders, parking permits and ID card requests.

Assist faculty, staff and students with personnel and administrative issues; serve as departmental liaison to administrative departments on campus.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 4 years related experience required
  • Previous higher education experience preferred

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions

General office.  May frequently be required to walk; stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopier, file cabinets, and calculator.  Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to reach and bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes.  Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
