This position provides support to the Director of Financial Aid in the area of planning, leading, organizing, controlling, and implementing all activities, services, and programs provided under the auspices of the Kilgore College Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships plays a central role in fulfilling the mission of the institution, preparing students for success in life.
Responsibilities:
• This position will assist in the administration and management of all Federal Title IV funds, state grants, funds, exemptions, waivers, and scholarships. • Supervision and oversight of the Scholarship Coordinator, including training and scholarship management. • Review, disseminate, and determine whether a Suspension Appeal packet has all the required documentation required and if so, forward to Appeal Committee. If not, enter comments in PFs and communicate the appeal is denied due to lack of documentation to the student. Review and match up SAP Counseling to appeal packets. • Manage electronic Appeal form and submissions. • Specific duties include, but are not limited to, disseminating financial aid information to students, faculty, staff, parents, the community at large, and all potential students via email, phone, or other electronic communications, presentations. • Participation in special events/presentations as scheduled by the college., and FAFSA events. • Counseling students and parents concerning all aspects of the financial aid process. • Managing all electronic and paper documents used by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. • Managing communications to students and other departments across campus. • Review and dissemination of the non-attendance and non-payment drop list and the refund list received from the Registrars and Cashiers Offices. • Review, calculation, adjustment of aid, and processing of Return to Title IV along with notifying students of any balances owed due to the R2T4 calculations. • Assist and schedule training of newly hired staff and work study students along with ongoing training of Financial Aid staff either in person or through Blackboard. • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend & maintain profession conduct while attending staff meetings and college sponsored events. 2. Attend necessary training and development to remain current in the field, as required. 3. Act as liaison for the financial aid office, with excellent public relation skills in answering daily questions so as to allow aid counselors time to process files. 4. Will need to work some evenings during Registration and some Saturdays during the summer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Position Requirements: 1. Bachelors Degree or five years of financial aid experience to include hands-on experience with Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Extensive related work experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. 2. Excellent computer skills required. 3. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and work well with the public. 4. Must be able to handle high level of stress. 5. Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and accuracy are a must for this position. 6. Work efficiently and effectively under a variety of deadlines and be a team player with a cooperative and productive member of a hardworking financial aid team.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
