Job Summary

Perform cashiering, account research, customer service, account reconciling, and other administrative tasks to achieve department goals and accomplish daily operation objectives.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Perform various cashiering functions which include taking tuition payments, processing cash and cash-like transactions, balancing transactions to a computer report at the end of the shift, verifying other cashier reports, and helping others to balance at the end of their shift as needed.
2. Assist students, staff, and the general public with questions and concerns regarding Cashier Services in a manner that promotes positive public relations.
3. Perform clerical duties such as filing, verifying account transactions for accuracy, and explaining student accounts transaction history.
4. Attend various orientation, training, and work meetings as assigned.
5. Perform various administrative assignments within (1) Account Research, (2) Support Services, (3) Campus Consulting, or (4) assigned Project Teams and committees to help achieve department goals and daily operational objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year post-high school education/training in a related field.
One (1) year of related, part-time work experience.

 Additional related work experience may be substituted for educational requirements (One year of full-time work experience equal to one year of the required education.)*
 Additional related education/training may be substituted for work experience, (One year of education/training equal to one year of the required work experience.)

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to speak fluent Spanish.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

a. Cashiering/cash handling experience
b. Knowledge of general office procedures and etiquette
c. Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment
d. Good knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel software
e. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written (Ability to read, speak, and write English)
f. Excellent human relations skills
g. Excellent analytical and creating skills
h. Ability to safeguard privacy-protected information
i. Ability to type 30 words per minute (net)
j. Ability to operate 10-key adding machine
k. Some knowledge of College policies and procedures is preferred
l. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate business math and basic accounting principles and procedures
m. Ability to work well within deadlines and under pressure
n. Ability to work in a changing environment where job tasks and work locations may change on a daily basis
o. Ability to work under multiple supervisors and adapt to different supervisory styles
p. Willing to drive from location to location for work assignments or training
q. Willing to work various shifts
r. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
