Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of General Accounting, the Accountant will be responsible for the reconciliation and accounting of unrestricted transactions in the finance reporting system. Acts as a liaison to the campus community, related foundations, and other University System of Maryland institutions to effectively process transactions. Collaborate with the campus community to ensure timely and accurate processing of the University’s Sales and Amusement Tax transactions. As well as assist with the preparation of the University’s financial statements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance, or a related field.

Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in accounting, finance, or another related field.

  • A strong working knowledge of standard accounting procedures and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, analyze problems, prepare, and articulate solutions.
  • Experience working in a college or university diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Demands

Normal office environment with extensive computer use. Must be able to clearly read computer screen for extended periods and maintain significant fine finger dexterity for keyboarding. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling common office items such as supplies, files and documented materials.
