General Description

Urban College of Boston seeks a full-time (37.5 hours/week) ECE Grant Program Manager to oversee a grant awarded by the City of Bostons Office of Early Childhood. This three-year grant is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and is intended to help mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on the early childhood workforce. The grant period runs from January 1, 2023-December 31, 2025.

Building on its nearly 30-year history of offering multilingual, college credit-bearing pathways for early childhood educators, Urban College of Boston (UCB) seeks to support the City of Bostons Office of Early Childhood Education objectives to:

1. increase the number of early childhood educators entering the field,

2. provide course work and wraparound support to new and existing educators working toward an associate degree in early childhood education, and

3. increase the number of early childhood educators who work in Boston.

The person in this position will be working directly with students and employer partners, as well as ensuring grant compliance through data collection, analysis, and reporting.

The position is hybrid (remote/in-person), with on-campus and community-based meetings in Boston required at least twice a week. There will be some flexibility in determining the specific work hours, but some daytime, evening, and occasional Saturday availability will be required. Per current college policy, all UCB employees must be up to date on all CDC-recommended COVID vaccinations.

Reports to: Early Childhood Education Program Director

Responsibilities

Student Recruitment and Support

· Actively recruit at least 270 students for the CDA Plus Program (offered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese) and the Lead Teacher Program (offered in English, Spanish, and Mandarin), in collaboration with and support from multilingual part-time staff

· Support student enrollment, by assisting prospective students through the admissions, English placement assessment, and registration process

· Help students access and use key technological resources necessary for course success

· Connect students to support services through the Learning Resource Center, Student Services, and Technology Services departments to support retention and completion

· Connect students with Admissions department to explore pursuit of a certificate, associate degree, or other academic opportunity

· Collaborate with Financial Aid department to identify eligible candidates for associate degree completion scholarships (10 students annually)

Workforce Development & Employer Partnerships

· Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with early childhood education employer partners in the City of Boston

· Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to a structure for regular follow-up with students and program alumni to ensure they complete the work requirement stipulated in the grant agreement

Grant Management and Data Reporting

· Supervise two part-time recruiters/advisors (with bilingual skills in Mandarin/English and Portuguese/English)

· Collect and maintain program data and documentation to support Chief Advancement Officer in submitting quarterly grant reports

· Attend periodic meetings coordinated by the City of Boston Office of Early Childhood

· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

· Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of experience working in early childhood education, parent leadership, childrens mental health, grants management, admissions, or related field.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish required.

· Strong organizational and project management skills are required.

· The ability to maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues and partners.

· Ability to interact with participants in the early childhood education workforce, family childcare, out of school time educators, and those enrolled in college.

· Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse abilities and academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural composition of community college students, faculty, and staff.

· Knowledge and understanding of the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and/or of the Massachusetts Early Education and Care (EEC) teacher credentialing system preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
